Scotch Oakburn College is a co-educational, open entry, day and boarding school in Launceston, Tasmania that educates students from early learning through to Year 12.

Holistic education connects academic learning to the natural world, the community and values to give meaning to learning and to balance mental, physical and emotional growth in each student.

A distinctive and evolving ‘Vision for Learning’ is based on educational research and experience to develop students who are inquiring and reflective thinkers, effective communicators, self-directed, well-balanced and ethical people.

The Early Learning Centre is available for children aged 3 and 4 years of age and celebrates childhood as a time of joy, discovery and spontaneous exploration. The centre’s programs are based on the exceptional Reggio Emilia philosophy where creativity and curiosity are fostered through play-centred learning.

In the primary school years of Prep to year 5, inquiry-based learning in small, single-year classes, is supported by a large team of learning support staff as well as additional in-class literacy and numeracy specialists for core subjects. This ensures all students are supported and challenged.

The state-of-the-art middle school facility for years 6, 7 and 8 students has been designed specifically to meet the learning needs of the young adolescent. Spacious classrooms with modern spaces compliment the light-filled communal areas, café and sporting facilities.

It is a dynamic and engaging learning environment where students develop their identity and a strong sense of belonging in a space dedicated specifically to their welfare.

A vast range of subject offerings, extension and enrichment opportunities, and co-curricular activities from Years 9 to 12 mean that all students can fully explore their passions and interests at the Scotch Oakburn College Senior School.

The co-educational boarding house provides spacious accommodation for up to 80 Year 6 to 12 students from across Tasmania´s country regions as well as from interstate and overseas. The school welcomes international students to complete their senior years of study.
