Sky Network Television (SKT) has locked in a long-term partnership with the National Rugby League (NRL) and New Zealand Rugby League (NZRL).

Under the agreement, the television network will broadcast all NRL, State of Origin and NZRL-run match featuring the Kiwis and the Kiwi Ferns.

The deal includes a digital partnership, a component that has been singled out as important to engaging young viewers in New Zealand.

Further, Sky will work with the NRL and NZRL to develop rugby league in New Zealand to support player development all the way from the grassroots level to high performance.

Additionally, the partnership will place particular emphasis on support the growth of the women’s game.

“We love Rugby League and so do many New Zealanders. More than 1.1 million New Zealand fans have tuned into the NRL this year already,” Sky CEO Sophie Moloney said.

“In 2020 League lovers and occasional sport fans alike enjoyed 276 matches across NRL, the Kiwis and Kiwi Ferns, State of Origin, the NSW and QLD Cups and the National Premiership Men’s and Women’s.”
