St George Mining (SGQ) has received more positive drilling results from its Mt Alexander Project in the northeastern Goldfields region of Western Australia.

Ongoing drilling is continuing to intersect mineralised mafic-ultramafic units across an east-west strike of the Cathedrals Belt that extends for over four kilometres.

The mafic-ultramafic units are intrusive-style rocks which are known to host high-grade massive nickel-copper sulphides at shallow depths.

Pleasingly, the results provide further encouragement, showing additional massive sulphide deposits are present within the Cathedrals Belt.

Hole MAD185 was drilled to a depth of 361.2 metres and aimed to test an off-hole conductor identified from the down-hole electromagnetic (DHEM) survey in MAD179.

Drilling intersected a thick mineralised ultramafic unit in MAD185 which indicates the presence of higher-grade mineralisation.

MAD184 was completed to a depth of 497.8 metres at Investigators. The hole aimed to test a broad electromagnetic (EM) anomaly identified by a survey conducted earlier this year.

The hole intersected a 23.2-metre thick mafic-ultramafic unit and includes a five-metre thick ultramafic with disseminated and blebby nickel-copper sulphides.

MAD184 hosts an extensive intrusive mineral system which has the potential to host high-grade mineralisation.

“This is further evidence of the large intrusive complex at the Cathedrals Belt and increases the prospectivity for significant nickel-copper sulphide deposits down-plunge of the known shallow massive sulphide deposits,” Executive Chairman John Prineas said.

Hole MAD186 was drilled to a 399.6-metre depth at the Cathedrals prospect and aimed to test the continuation of the prospect’s ultramafics in a zone with strong magnetotelluric (MT) and audio-frequency MT (AMT) conductance.

Positively, the thick intersection of mafic-ultramafic rocks in MAD186 has confirmed the continuation of the intrusive rocks in a previously untested area.

Lastly, MAD187 was completed to a depth of 253 metres at the West End prospect to test an EM anomaly identified earlier this year.

This hole was drilled to the west of the Investigators prospect and intersected the same intrusive-style rocks that the Cathedrals Belt is known to host.

The presence of intrusive rocks in this hole confirms the widespread nature of the intrusive system and supports the potential for mineralisation to continue to the western extension of the Cathedrals Belt.

St George Mining has completed DHEM surveys at some hole and is reviewing the data. Additionally, further drilling will be undertaken to follow-up on the latest findings.

The company is currently drilling MAD188 to test an MT/AMT anomaly at the Stricklands prospect.

Company shares have dropped 4.55 per cent and are trading for 10.5 cents in early afternoon trade.
