Thomson Resources (TMZ) has begun calculating an updated JORC 2012 mineral resource estimate (MRE) for its Silver Spur Mine in Queensland.

The update will be calculated by Thomson’s resource consultants, AMC, and it marks the next step in the company’s objective to deliver JORC 2012 MRE’s for its New England Fold Belt hub.

Between 1976 and 2012, 76 holes, for 7737 metres, were drilled at the Silver Spur Mine and 98 holes, for 5772 metres, were drilled at the nearby Silver Spur North prospect.

Recent analysis of historical geophysics and structural interpretations by Global Ore Discovery has highlighted a series of compelling exploration targets.

A non-JORC resource was delivered in 1998 by Rimfire Pacific Mining (RIM) and was updated in 2004 by Macmin under the JORC 2004 code.

The new updated MRE will include data from 11 holes with significant silver and zinc mineralisation identified by previous explorers.

Thomson has also contracted Planetary Geophysics to resurvey the geophysics in the area around the Silver Spur Mine to confirm and refine geophysical anomalies prior to drilling.

This survey is expected to begin in December 2021.

Executive Chairman David Williams commented on the program.

“Our second mineral resource estimate – Silver Spur – is now on the way with AMC. At the same time the Mt Gunyan relog and drill data validation is advancing at pace,” Mr Williams commented.

“The work undertaken so far is showing Silver Spur to be an exciting area with tremendous upside potential and we have the feeling that this sleeper is going to offer up a lot.”

Shares in Thomson were up 8.24 per cent on the market with shares trading at 9.2 cents at 12:16 pm AEDT.
