TMK Energy (TMK) has intersected about 47 metres of gassy coal at its Snow Leopard-03 well within its Gurvantes XXXV Coal Seam Gas (CSG) project in Mongolia.

The discovery was made in the upper coal seam, from a depth of 190 metres.

The coal core was sampled for gas desorption testing, with preliminary results suggesting high gas contents.

The results have so far been consistent with the first two wells drilled in the Narrin Sukhait area, demonstrating the continuity of the coal formations.

CEO Brendan Stats said the well has proven its success.

“The results to date from all three wells are extremely positive with all key technical parameters being coal thickness, gas contents, gas composition and permeability, all meeting or exceeding parameters from developed coal seam gas projects around the world,” he said.

“The results from the multiple wells over a six km strike, demonstrate the enormous potential and scale of our project.”

Downhole geophysical surveys and permeability testing were conducted over the upper coal seam, with results expected soon.

Meanwhile, drilling is currently paused at 318 metres but will test the lower coal seam once operations recommence.

The well is expected to reach a depth of 650 metres.

Shares were trading 10 per cent higher today at 1.1 cents each at 11:30 am AEST.
