Traffic Technologies (TTI) has been awarded contracts from the Victorian Road Authority and local government to supply 100 electronic road signs.

Valued at a total of $1.3 million, the contract from the Road Authority pertains to the supply and installation of electronic speed limit signs, including software, across the state’s Metropolitan South East and Metropolitan North West regions, while the one from the local government covers the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, including Kew, Camberwell and Hawthorn.

The signs are designed to serve as a reminder to drivers of the mandatory reduction in the speed limit — from 60 to 40 kilometres per hour — in school zones and local shopping districts during peak times.

“The receipt of these contracts is very encouraging as it has increased the company’s footprint of our Australian made state of the art equipment and software across Melbourne,” said Con Liosatos, Managing Director of Traffic Technologies.

He added that the contract also represents significant sales of the company’s hardware and software range “which has been developed to the highest standards over a number of years,” and which will benefit from easing lockdown restrictions.

The deal follows an earlier contract from the Whittlesea City and Baw Baw Shire Councils, also in Victoria, that was signed in December last year for the supply of roughly 3000 LED street lights, valued at $1 million.

Shares in Traffic Technologies finished trading yesterday at a price of 4.3 cents each.
