Westar Resources (WSR) has completed its maiden aircore drilling program at its Coolaloo Project in Western Australia.

The Coolaloo Project lies roughly 430 kilometres northeast of Perth and spans an area of 136 square kilometres.

All up, 373 aircore holes, for 11,038 metres, were drilled to test multiple high-priority targets that are prospective for geochemical anomalies.

Furthermore, the drilling aimed to provide a first-pass geochemical and geological assessment of prospective drill targets.

Samples have been sent for to a laboratory in Perth for analysis, and results are expected in several weeks.

Westar will release the results once assays have been received and quality assurance checks have been completed.

“We are extremely pleased to have completed our maiden drill program at the Coolaloo Gold Project following the successful geochemical and geophysical results that highlighted key targets,” Managing Director Karl Jupp said.

“The interpreted target lithologies were encountered in numerous drillholes and the geological team will now integrate this new geological knowledge to our existing datasets,” he added.

Westar will now begin a reverse circulation drilling program across the Winjangoo and Gidgee South projects.

Program of Works are in place, heritage surveys have been completed and the designated contractor has been engaged.

Shares in Westar are up a healthy 10 per cent on the market and trading at 22 cents at 1:18 pm AEST.
